Large photos and a simple text portray a typical New England autumn.
Raking leaves, airing quilts, starting school, chopping and stacking wood, and eating Thanksgiving dinner are a few of the many seasonal activities shown in this photo essay. Although autumn is different throughout the world the simple text and crisp, colorful pictures make this book a good starting place for discussion of changes during the fall season.
A Personal Favorite
A few of the seasonal activities depicted in this book are not familiar in our part of the country and this was a good springboard to learning about people living in other places.
I used this book as the foundation for an Autumn Adventure project. Each participating class read this book and then we exchanged photographs and artifacts of autumn in our part of the country. It was a valuable learning experience as well as lots of fun.
