A humorously illustrated preamble to the Constitution of the United States.
In the foreward to this book the author explains that the Constitution is simply a list of rules and promises written down to show us ways to have happiness, safety, and comfort. He also explains each phrase of the preamble in kid-friendly terms. The typical Catrow drawings illustrate each phrase of the preamble and help extend understanding of these "big ideas". The colorful, cartoon-like characters have great appeal to children of all ages.
A Personal Favorite
It is an excellent way to start discussion of the Constitution with young children. Once I found this book I was much more comfortable with the mandate to provide developmentally appropriate activities for September 17--Constitution Day.
