Trout, Trout, Trout

written by April Pulley Sayre, illustrated by Trip Park

Playful rhythmic text and cartoon caricatures represent an amazing number of freshwater fish.

The rhythmic chant of the text screams to be read aloud. "Waccamaw Killifish, see it pass? Largescale Stoneroller. Bass, Bass, Bass."  The brightly colored cartoon caricatures of frisky fish are humorously accurate. A "Bigmouth Buffalo" sports a western hat and sheriff's star, while a "California Roach" holds a surfboard under its fin and wears a cool-dude expression on its face.

All of the fish in the book are freshwater fish found in North America, north of Mexico. A four-page glossary includes a short, factual paragraph on each species.
