A child shrinks to the size of a snail and experiences the garden world from that perspective.
Named as an Outstanding Science Book for Young Children, probably because of the lush and incredibly detailed illustrations. A child wanders into a garden and begins watching a snail. As bits of information about snails are tucked away on leaves or in empty places the child appears to be shrinking in relation to the surroundings. Becoming the size of the snail may stimulate the imagination of the reader but coming back to normal size by the end of the book is comforting. The elaborate illustrations are crammed with accurate representations of plants and animals; the double spreads in horizontal configuration will be most effective in Big Book format.
