Sleepy Bears

by Mem Fox, illustrated by Kerry Argent

Mother Bear has a gentle rhyme for each of her six reluctant cubs to help them fall into their winter sleep.

Mother Bear has a cozy rhyme for each of her cubs to help them fall faaaast asleep. Baxter is a pirate, Winifred a tiger, Bella a trapeze artist, Tosca a queen, unlimited candy for Ali, and Baby Bear cradled on the moon. "And all of them slept until spring." The brightly colored illustrations switch from the bears in their featherbed to depicting the cub acting out the rhyme.

My Favorite Pictures

The last two page spread showing all the sleeping bears snuggled together under their colorful quilt is marvelous.
