A Porcupine Named Fluffy

written by Helen Lester, illustrated by Lynn Munsinger

A porcupine named Fluffy is happier with his name after he finds a friend in a similarly misnamed rhinoceros.

Mr. and Mrs. Porcupine had difficulty naming their son but finally decided on Fluffy, "such a pretty name". As Fluffy grew up he realized he was NOT fluffy and tried many things in order to become more so. No success. Finally, he met a rhinoceros named Hippo and after they laughed about their confusing names they became best friends.

The illustrations are absolutely delightful! The portraits of Fluffy as he tries to become more like his name are priceless. Marvelous facial expressions and body language really make the story seem real.
