The Icky Bug Counting Book

written by Jerry Pallotta, illustrated by Ralph Masiello

Counts from 0 to 26 with realistic depictions of that number of insects.

Counting from 0 to 26: "Zero is a number." There is a large numeral and the number word at the top of the page with boldly colorful and realistic illustration of a group of creatures in appropriate number. The "icky bugs" have been chosen to represent the alphabet in reverse: 1 is a zebra swallowtail butterfly while there are 26 army ants.

Helpful Hint

The author notes that there are only four true bugs depicted. There are 2 arachnids, 1 diplopod, 1 crustacean, and the rest (including the true bugs) are insects.
