Finklehopper Frog

written by Irene Livingston, illustrated by Brian Lies

Finklehopper Frog wants to join the fitness crowd so he buys a silly looking outfit and tries to jog instead of hopping.

This is a great book for starting discussions related to self esteem and doing your own thing. Text and pictures emphasize the strengths of individuality and diversity.  All the other animals laughed at Finklehopper in his brightly colored jogging suit and clumsy manner. Only Ruby Rabbit pointed out that he should do what he does best--just HOP.

Large-font text in rhyming verse overlays full-page art done in acrylic paint. The illustrations feature bright colors and many details of the comical animals in pursuit of physical fitness.
