Claude the Dog

written and illustrated by Dick Gackenbach

Claude shares his Christmas presents with Bummer, a lonely stray.

Claude has gotten some wonderful presents from his family, but gives them all away to Bummer a lonely dog without a home. Bummer is worried that Claude doesn't have anything, but Claude reassures him that his greatest gift is his family.

Claude, Our Christmas Guardian

Many years ago a student remarked how much our dog hand puppet with floppy ears looked like Claude and we decided to put it on the top of our classroom Christmas tree. Every year since I have given that puppet a prominent place in Christmas decorations to remind us of the importance of giving and sharing.
