Amazing Grace

written by Mary Hoffman, illustrated by Caroline Binch

Grace's mother and grandmother tell her she can be anything she wants to, if she puts her mind to it.

Grace loves acting out stories and always gives herself the most important roles. When her class is planning to present Peter Pan of course Grace wants the lead. One classmate tells her she can't be Peter because she is a girl and another says she can't because she is black. With loving support from her mother and after a motivational surprise from her grandmother Grace performs magnificently in her audition and achieves her goal. The wonderful, realistic watercolor illustrations are as vibrant and energetic as Grace herself.
